About Us

Our Formation

  • KTJA was founded on November 24, 2012, with its first meeting held on the green lawns of Cubbon Park, Bengaluru.
  • Under the leadership of Thiru. Muthumani Nannan, a senior journalist and founder of the association,
    the idea was to unite Tamil journalists in Karnataka, enhance their journalistic skills,
    and extend welfare efforts to those deprived of facilities from both the government and Tamil society.
  • This inaugural meeting, attended by senior journalists including Thiru. A.V. Mathiazhagan, Thiru. Selvaraj, Thiru. K. Thinagaravelu, Thiru. V. Venkatesan, Thiru. S. Patturaj, Thiru. A. Senthilnathan, and Thiru. R. Vinoth, marked the founding day of KTJA. It was unanimously decided to establish the Karnataka Tamil Journalists Association.
  • In subsequent meetings, additional support was garnered from senior journalists such as Thiru. Veda Kumar (Editor, Thamizhar Muzhakkam), Thiru. Ki.Su. Elangovan (Editor, Kural Oli), Thiru. Muthu (Times of India), Thiru. Kalaiarasan’s (Dinasudar) son Thiru. Anbarasan, Thiru. Bharathirajan, Thiru. Sundaram, and Thiru. Umashankar (Dinakaran).

Our Team

Our team includes around 40 journalists and photojournalists based in Bangalore, with an additional 30 journalists working across various district capitals such as Kolar Gold Fields, Mysore, Mangalore, Hubli, Chikmagalur, Coorg, Hassan, Belgaum, and Chamrajnagar. We also support Tamil magazines like Ootru and Kural Oli.
